REVIEW: Cold War Kids @ Paradise Rock Club

There’s a time in the life of an emerging artist where they transition from being kids touring in support of their first release to established artists, but right before that transition is perfection.

For me, Cold War Kids’ moment of perfection came during CMJ ’06 at the Cake Shop where they played another glorious show – buried in a string of glorious shows for months after the simultaneous release of EPs With Our Wallets Full…llets_Full & Up In Rags…Up_in_Rags and again for months and months after the release of their Robbers & Cowards LP…26_Cowards .

Their show was as expected, there’s visible chemistry on stage which causes a seriously visceral reaction to their performances, particularly for new fans of the band – that moment came while they performed “Hospital Beds” and “Expensive Tastes” at the FADER/Levi’s Trading Post at SXSW ’06.
