Animal Collective “Grass”

I know I’ve been super jocking Animal Collective of late, which, oddly, makes me feel kinda like I’m a bit too much a part and/or particle of the wave of music marketing mutilation – particularly on the heels of Pitchfork’s 9.6 rating for Merriweather Post Pavilion – however, I’m going back to the album that got my AC fandom engine, Feels (released in 2005 on Fatcat Records), and the #1 hit jam from that album “Grass”.

Comparing this to “My Girls” from their most recent effort, one can definitely notice the level of production Ben Allen brings to their sound, but Animal Collective is a collective, an oft esoteric collective, and part of that collective is quirky lyrics, make of them what you will.
