St. Vincent & The National “Sleep All Summer”

score 20 years of merge records

About a month back the compilation Score! 20 Years of Merge Records was released to celebrate 20 years of Merge Records. I checked it out around that time but found both Times New Viking’s rework of Arcade Fire’s “Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)” and The Apples in Stereo’s cover of Neutral Milk Hotel’s “King of Carrot Flowers – Pt Three” to be entirely underwhelming.

Well, I gave it another shot and have found a jam I like: St. Vincent & The National’s cover of Crooked Fingers’ “Sleep All Summer”:

I love “Sleep All Summer” too, hadn’t heard the original until I came here, it’s also excellent.
